4th of July Celebration

June 30, 2012

Last summer we spent the 4th of July holiday in the State of Washington in the one county that allows the sale and use of serious fireworks and it was a cracking, blasting, popping, loud time. Because the weather there was so nice we were able to eat outside and enjoy the festivities.  My idea of the perfect American 4th of July picnic includes a little badminton, a game of croquet, a covered gazebo to escape the heat, lots of treats and cool drinks, and a hammock to take a nap in after too much of everything.

Hi Charisse, I love your design board. It looks like the perfect celebration! The 4th of July used to mean all those things to me too, but 12 years ago my little princess was born on that day. When she was little, she thought the fireworks were just for her. She is such a delight that I secretly think the fireworks are in celebration of her too.

What a special gift to be born on the 4th of July in America. Everyone is celebrating and having a good time. Of course if it is your birthday there is always going to be an event to go to on the 4th, so your birthday is always memorable. Happy Birthday to your daughter. She must be the one we all designed the tween room for. You are very fortunate to have a daughter. Will she now be a teenager? Have a fun and memorable 4th of July.

It is a bit of a mixed blessing for her. The whole country celebrates but that means all her friends are busy . She’s never had a party with friends (just family) on her real bday. Yes this is the same daughter we designed for at Olioboard. I have one more year with her as my little girl. She will be 12 on the fourth.

Thanks for this fresh idea Charisse, what a perfect timing because my kids wanted to have a picnic during this big celebration so you gave more on what to do.

Hey Taunnie, I never thought about your daughter feeling like she is not getting the birthday celebration just for her. Maybe when she turns 13 or 16 you will have to have a special birthday bash for her.

Bianca, hopefully where you live the weather is nice enough to enjoy being outside. Where I am in Arizona right now we don’t spend much time outside in the summer. It is way too hot. I am glad you were inspired by my blog post.

Love to hear from you
