Yellow is a bright primary color on the color wheel between orange and green. Directly across from yellow lies its complementary color violet which is seen occurring in nature in purple iris flowers. Yellow is an uplifting optimistic color. Like the sun, yellow radiates sunshine and warmth. These words are synonymous with or represent various shades of the color yellow: amber, banana, cadmium yellow, chartreuse, chiffon, citron, cream, daffodil, golden, goldenrod, khaki, lemon, mellow yellow, saffron, sunflower, topaz, yellow ocher.

Living in Arizona where the sun is so bright, I like a house filled with light and usually choose warm based paint colors. When choosing yellow hues, I tend to go with more of a yellow orange hue rather than a citrus lemon yellow hue paint.
